Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How safe is it?
A. Extremely.

Q. Do I have to be able to swim?
A. No. Everything on and around you floats: Skis, wakeboard, wetsuit, ski-jacket, rope, boat.
And we’ll take good care of you after you.

Q. How young do you start ‘em?
A. Our youngest wakeboarder to date was 4 and our oldest skier, 62.
Once you’re reasonably healthy we can teach you.

Q. How difficult is it to learn?
A. Almost everyone will get up and going first time with us. To be comfy and able to ride behind any boat your friends can throw at you, depends on your genes. (4 lessons for blue ones, 6 to 8 for stonewashed… ahem.)
One weekend will get you going, no problem.

Q. How long does it take?
A. Arriving aboard TUBAL, suiting up, getting wet, getting dry, having a chat and a hot drink and returning to your car will take about 60 to 90 minutes. You can hang out longer if you like! We like to share, so bring your latest mags, chick or fella, toys, sweets… anything fun or tasty really.

Q. What if it rains, snows or blows a gale?
A. TUBAL can ‘up anchor’ to find flat water almost any time. Rain is usally just a shower and you’re going to get wet anyway. As for snow… if you are tough enough to ski in the winter and can get Mark out of hibernation, TUBAL boasts three separate heaters which make a lovely cosy boat to dry off in.
Try St. Patrick’s, Halloween, Xmas, New Years and Valentine’s day skiing!

Q. What are your opening times?
A. 365 ¼ days a year, 24 hours a day, advance booking essential.

Q. Are you mad??
A. Not in a bad way.

Q. What do I need to bring?
A. Togs, Towel and (T…T…) The money. It’s a good idea to bring a fleece, hat and wind cheater. Even in summer, the evenings can be nippy and we can promise enough fun to make you lose track of time!

Q. How fast does the boat go?
A. how fast do you want it to go?

Q. How many people can you handle?
A. That depends on who’s asking! Comfortably, 30 people per day, in groups of up to 10 at a time.

Q. How much does it cost?
A. Look at our prices page, it’s lovely. And it's updated more often than this one.

Q. What age is Wolfie? And what breed is she?
A. Wolfie is a 1998 model, terrier hybrid, with organic skin and hair, covering a hyper-alloy chassis, quattra-paw-drive, fuelled by rocks, plates and tuna. The only canine coach we know of.
